Gentlemen - on behalf of the new fine shells provided by BSB, GTM, Pre-Add etc. I am planning a new GO on the Monaco GP grid, Monte Carlo, May 22, 1955.
First question arises is concerning the Scuderia Ferrari: To me it has always looked this way:
#42 Ferrari 625 - Dr. Guiseppe Farina
#44 Ferrari 625 - Maurice Trintignant
#46 Ferrari 555 - Harry Schell
#48 Ferrari 555 - Piero Taruffi/Paul Frere
But please allow me to quote AUTOSPORT 1/6, May 27, 1955:
"..... Farina, Trintignant and Taruffi having the older "Squalo" machines, while Schell was entrusted with the "Super-Squalo"...".
This is giving birth to one question and one wonder why?
Question:
- was the Scuderia entering 2 x 625 and 2 x 555, or indeed 3 x 625 and 1 x 555 in that race?
Wonder why:
- why is AUTOSPORT nicknaming the 625 "Squalo"? Was it not the 553 which was called "Squalo" (shark) and the 555 called "Super-Squalo"?
Cheers, Holger
