Hi there all...
Here are a few photos of my Scratchbuilt 1930s SSK GP Slot Car, which I have built for the Wolves Early Birds event on the 20th of March 2016.
I eventually found on the internet, an old Black and White photo of one of these Mercedes SSK's cars racing without Mudguards and Headlamps, number 72 which I have based my build on.
Who was driving was or where it was taken, I have no idea, as there was only a photo, no information.
I started out with profiling the Chassis rails in Brass as per the actual car and bit by bit building up the chassis so it had a front motor with a prop shaft, like the actual car.
Also added is front wheel steering and as a fun feature, the driver figure moves his arms with the front wheels side to side.
The straight six Mercedes engine I also modified to sit on top of the FF motor, which I then detailed up. I then added other detail to the body and figures.
Here are some photos of the Brass Chassis and the finished build..
I hope you like them. If you have any questions, please ask..
All the best.. Martin.
