A hasty repaint of a Scalextric Ford Escort MK1 for use in the Touring Car class at my local club (TSCC).
The repaint is based upon the #103 Frank Gardner, Alan Mann Ford Escort 1.6 as raced at the Mallory Park Guards 4000 Guineas meeting in June of 1968. Gardner finished a close second to his fellow Aussie countryman, Brian Muir in the Bill Shaw Ford Falcon. I was lucky enough to be present at the event with my late father where we spectated the races from Shaws Hairpin.
In addition to the repaint, I've also altered the driver making it a little more animated and replaced the Scalextric 'head' with something a more accurate; added a interior rear view mirror and attached an exhaust tailpipe below the passenger door for some extra detail.
