A wee surprise

If I were to hold a poll, I would guess most people would expect, as I did, that the car on the right would be the quickest car round the track. Anglewinder, hot Mura wind etc.

However, it was built with sticky, goopy spongies in mind and although the urethanes are good, they are not up to totally controlling the power of the Mura so it's all a bit sideways and most of the performance is being spun away. Perhaps on a bigger track things would be different but the little car on the left is the quickest round my track. The chassis was built for a Parma 16D but I've modified it to take one of these little modern thingies. This one came from Jimmy in Greece and it's by far the quickest of them I have. So, it has enough power to move quickly but not enough to keep the tyres spinning so all the performance is being used.

It was handily faster than the SlotIt Mazda that Mark bought with him. I drove both and would certainly choose this one in spite, as I have said elsewhere, being very impressed with the SlotIt car.

So it's the old balance of properties that count rather than just raw power. Nothing new there although I never the less expected the Mura to be faster given it was my giant killer all those years ago. How can it be 50 years?

I have another of these motors so it will be interesting to try a sidewinder with it. Belated public thanks to Jimmy for the motors. Very generous to a returnee to the hobby.
