Copersucar FD03

I have never built so many cars in such a short space of time before!!!!
This latest one is a version of the 1975 Copersucar FD03 as driven by Art Merzario.

The shell is a creation of Simon (DNQ), the chassis and engine cover is a modified version of a Flyslot Lotus 78, decals by Reissorg (tyre and some other small decals Pattos) and the wings, mirrors and crown gear cover were made by me.

Here are a few pictures…..

Chassis has been shortened and a strengthening plastic element fitted. The body has been cut, glued and filled as necessary. I decided to use the Flyslot driver body but DNQ helmet. This meant that I had to file the cockpit sides.
I did not want the Lotus 78 fire extinguisher to cover the crown gear and so I cut and modified part of a DNQ engine cover.

Testing the fit of some of the parts.

Wings made, painted and fitted. Gear cover painted and glued in place. Front suspension and body shell painted. Mirrors also taking shape.

The body needed a fixing pillar hot glued in place. I thought it would be good to have better looking cylinder air intakes fitted to the back section of the engine block. I thought these would be visible enough to warrant better quality metal intakes. The ones further in could remain the Flyslot plastic units.
(As it happens even the rear ones cannot clearly be seen when the car is assembled!)

And completed and on the track…..

Thanks for looking,
Philip
