Hello Folks, This car is being constructed for the 2016/17 GVSCC Targa 2 proxy that a few of the folks here entered this 2015/16.
It has been built to be fit under a Fly Chevron B21........initial testing has been quite good, but the physical dimensions of the Chevron, are not as ideal as the Fly Porsche 908/3 that I entered last year (the Chevron has a much narrower front track, and requires a shorter rear axle/guide post length......not positives!!), but I think it should be OK, particularly on the shorter twistier layouts.
As the chassis will be secured via screws/body posts, there is really no advantage to hinged pans.......these are attached to the main rails with some fine guage wire "L's" which do permit some rotational flex. The cross piece or "bite bar" (running across the chassis just in front of the motor box) runs through a square bit of tubing with a bit of clearance both on a vertical and horizontal plane...... a small length of silicone lead wire tubing has been fitted over the bite bar to take up the space between the square tubing and this bar.........this provides a "cushion" which permits center section flex, but eliminates any slop.
Cheers
Chris Walker
