AS I referred to on my intro post, I've been getting to a point with my tinkering that I want to start building my own cars. A nice personal touch I figured would be to build what I'm already driving (and maybe create a history of my own cars should the kit be available to me).

Humour me if people don't normally do project progress threads, this is my first attempt! If anybody has any tips or advise as I'm going along, please holla.

To start off with I need to give you an idea of what my car looks like. For those unaware, a Ford Racing Puma is an uprated version of the standard 1.7 car, specifically with more horsepower, flaired arches & front splitter on the bodywork and a different interior. Plus the iconic ford Imperial blue paint.

To give an idea of what I'm looking to reproduce, here are examples of the real thing;

I found through the power of the internet a Puma s1600 body kit from BSB which I thought would be an ideal starting point to begin the build. The kit also included headlamps and a spoiler which weren't required, plus a roof scoop which would need sanding away.

Some time with various grade sandpapers and a stanley knife later, I witted the shape down to take away the excess body work and bring it in line with the the car shape.

My biggest concern however was the wheel arches of the kit being too big and having to tinker them down to size. This lucky didn't become an issue when I measured the distances compared to the car general arrangement.

That done and I've got it primed, ready to rock and roll when my paint arrives (ordered a tin of Imperial Blue direct from Ford).
