As above really, wondering what a good match for a bugatti blue would be something similar to this would be ideal, rattle cans preferred.

Does anyone know where to purchase the original style number decals for this kit. Any numeric value will suffice but I want the white roundel background. Water slide not self sticker decals please. U.K. Based also.

There's a Group 5 proxy series starting here in NZ in about 4 weeks and I wanted something a bit different to enter. Because I had the bits I needed at hand I rushed this through the build process to get it ready for track testing Thursday evening.

Next Door Neigbor of The Italian Stallion Gets Motivated...

Over the years many of my scratch built cars have been Proto creations. This 1954 Maserati A6GCS Berlinetta is another. For me, it was lust at first sight. Chris really captured the svelt lines of this rare Maserati. Rather than going with any of the prepainted kits issued I got an unpainted version. One, was a French Blue over French Blue car (I believe ran in the Mille Miglia). The 2 tone looked really good to me... very 50s but I wanted something more... Italian. The body arrived in wonderful shape, only requiring a minimum of prep prior to painting. I chose Ferrari Red and Royal Maroon, over a red oxide primer... alkyd lacquers from Model Car World. I went with a period driver's head from Immense Miniatures (Kirk Douglas, again) because I wasn't enamored with what came with the car. The driver figures sent were pretty good but I'm very persnickety when it comes to who gets behind the wheel of my scratch builds.

Underneath the resin is a brass chassis with Slotit recessed inline pod, the design was based on the fine work I saw on a TLOR 2015 proxy entry which literally ran away from the pack taking top honors. At the moment power comes from a Scaleauto 20K short can with Sloit pinion and offset crown. Wheels are BRM wire wheels, painted Ferrari Red (I thought it would look cooler and more "period" than leaving them unpainted)

The 1/1 A6GCS had a 2 litre engine so if I down gun the motor I could run it with the small bore cars in the next TLOR proxy.

Marcos GT 1800,,, Marcos Mantula

Hi all.
I have been looking for the Marcos Mantula for the last month after seeing it run at Brands Hatch. It really caught my fancy.
Now PSR have the Marcos Gt 1800 in resin.
I have looked at pictures of both side by side, and checked for glaring differences.
I have also, read up on the Marcos Brands and see that some used the same body shell but had different guts making the model different.

If anyone can help me with this dilemma, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks for your help

Penske PC4

Hi,
Here is my latest build. It is John Watson's Penske of 1976.

As my painting/masking skills are limited I decided to try a different technique with this car. The shell was given a base coat of white paint and then the blue, red and silver are decals. Patto will sell sheets of plain colours and the decals are very forgiving when it come to corners. Anyhow, whist not perfect (by a long way) it did work well enough for me to say the experiment was a success. biggrin.gif

I mounted the shell on a lengthened March 761 chassis. This provided wheels that are close to the originals and nice engine details. There was plenty of modification required (shell and chassis) but the finished car has become one of my favorites! happy.gif

I need to thank Simon (DNQ) for such a great shell and also Colin (Wraith/C&C Designs) who did a brilliant job of producing some particular decals to allow me to complete the project.

Anyhow, here are lots of photos (sorry).....

Thanks for looking and please feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers,
Philip

I am looking at turning a Testors 1/32 Duesenberg into a resin slot car. It has huge wheels.

Pendleslotracing have a 23" classic wheel/tyre combo but it's out of stock.

Can anybody suggest other suppliers who would have suitably sized wheels?

Ideally to fit either 3/32" or 3mm axle.

Thanks

Well, I think I will finally take the 'self build ' plunge rolleyes.gif after reading post on my previous topic I've decided to use acylic paint ( rule #1 stick to what you know ) wink.gif Now: I've decided on Teamslot Audi Quattro , and I have some slot it wheels witn P6 tyres glued on cool.gif Are they suitable for a rally car on Scalextric Sport? Would the use of other Slot-It parts: sprockets etc. provide a worthwhile upgrade? ( if at all compatible ) question.gif Would aluminium wheels help with weight distribution if used at the front axle? ( I know that it might help the ascetics )

Finally finished the Chrysler Le Baron Imperial. Unfortunately the couple driving it look far too respectable to interest the police. I thought of painting the passengers' faces but for some reason they often end up with a mad-eyed stare in 1/32 and I've run out of fine paintbrushes.

Humber station wagon 1940s

Rather than churn out yet another Montgomery staff car, I decided to convert it into a station wagon as might be used by civilians, similar to those used by the army and the RAF. As you can see it was an exercise in plastic strip as these cars were quite Tudorbethan. The grille had to be cut out as these more workaday vehicles had cheap mesh radiators rather than the posh Monty metal version. I realised after completion that I'd made the rear end too long but couldn't face cutting it down, so this is a one-off bespoke station wagon (extended). I'm not sure what would happen if it gets rolled - instant decapitation probably :-)

132 Gift card chassis

Getting a little bit involved in some 132 proxy racing meant I needed some chassis's. Having pretty good luck with the Gift card chassis in 143, I decided to take what I learned and move it over to 132 scale.

The following is the resulting 132 BARC Gift Card Chassis.

Using a solid fixed front axle, there is little body role going into corners, and the very low COG means the ass end kicks out nicely letting you know you are on the edge without loosing control. I have been very pleased in testing this chassis, and it looks like a Gift card works as good in 132 scale as it does in 143. The cards themselves are very flexible, but when you add the brass side pods with the fastening C channel they become very stiff. This car without a body on will lift the guide right out of the slot on acceleration. There are a couple of things I can do to prevent this, and one of the ideas is cutting slots on each side of the motor bracket. This will allow the card to flex to some degree and work like a ladder traction bar in a drag car. The other is adding a round counterweight over the guide pin.

No special skill is needed to build these. Some Lego blocks, brass strip, a sharp utility knife, a gift card, and some CA. I think you might be surprised how well these run, and the chassis costs pennies to build. This is a Tim Hortons( Canadian Coffee shop) gift card that was given to me for nothing when I asked politely if I could have a couple of blank cards.

Cheers

Dan

What do I have here?

I found out about a local race. It is a "timed" race in that you have to try to guess what time you will run on the track and stick to it as closely as possible. So performance is not a real issue...

The rules are simple. They give you the body (1/24), it has to have a 13D motor and PU tires on the rear.

I found this on my shelf under a NASCAR and while I can identify the motor (FOX FK130SH) I have no clue what the chassis is, the guide etc.

It doesn't really matter too much but I like the way it is built and if I do well may want to get more.

I didn't see any markings but I didn't check well...

Thanks in advance!
