don't want to sound tight (even though maybe I am) but has anyone successfully freshened up miliput that is a little long in the tooth? I don't have a local retailer and cant be arsed ordering just a pack online , as I don't need much I thought I would struggle on with what I have. it just needs softening a touch and wondered if anyone had achieved this without affecting the curing process too much?

Fiat 643n Race transporter
Hi boys,
Worked on a racetransporter for the last month.
Cab, chassis inlet and inserts are made by Toni Ruvira. He made a perfect job on this parts.
Heads are painted by Lynne ( ember) she made a so realistic job on the faces.
And here is my scratched result so far,- decals are still missing but ordered.
Why can I upload pics, but can't see
But here is the link to my album

going down
my current project (build thread to follow soon) has to sit as low as absolutely possible but how low is too low purely in practical terms? it wont be a racer so outright performance isn't an issue and will run only on sport track.

Auto Union Type C "HillClimb"
Hi,
Here is my interpretation of « what should have been an Auto Union Type C Hillclimb
In order to have another driver than the usual one, Ive decided to use a LMM instead of the original.
I had to trim off a part of his back + reducing the length of his arms but at the end Im quite happy with the result
Enjoy:

rat rod bus
ive had this one in mind to do for a while and after picking up a kinsmart vw bus for pennies , it seemed rude not to. im aiming for a low riding , crusty looking rat rod. I've not seen a long cab one built and I don't really like the "crew cab with windows" look , so this one may not be strictly accurate but hey , I like it!
after strip down , first job was to mark the roof with parallel masking tape lines ready for cutting. (cue 4 1/2" grinder)
![]()
it wasn't until it was cut that I realized how different the profile was front to rear.
![]()
a little hot glue to hold it in shape while the inside is glued with jb weld.
![]()
the roof profile was brought back with milliput and a little cellulose stopper before a coat of primer (a little more stopper required but its close).
![]()
![]()
pretty much the stance I'm looking to achieve. I'm hoping to do all the rusting/ratting /weathering with whatever bits and bobs I have lying around to keep the cost right down.
![]()
a scalextric boxter chassis could have been made for the job. it is perfect for width , requiring no trimming at all , it just needed a little shaping front and rear. I might need to shave a snatch from the outside of the front axle carriers and the rear bearing carriers need moving inboard by about 3mm. I just need to decide which way to integrate the bumpers.
![]()
with standard running gear it should perform pretty well , especially as it will be a lot lower than all the other "unique" ones you see on ebag. I'm thinking it will still need a bit of ballast to offset the weight up top.

Code of honour reffering to copied resin bodies
Hello dear friends at slotforum,
as I saw, a lot of discontinued bodys made by several makes became copied and sold by several other mostly small casting companies. I don´t want to critisize this but I´m interested if there are any unwritten "rules" oder agreements about behaviour in the international model making scene.
In my opinion, nothing is wrong with recasts of discontinued bodys or conversions, remasters of existing kits. So, what is considered as o.k.with you?
Best regards
Pit

Spray Turntable

After a long time of looking at an Airfix kit bought 2 years ago I finally got round to motorising it. The usual problem of how to mount the body for spraying was given some serious thought and following this I nipped round to our local Fabricators who quickly knocked up this revolving mount. Further work required to part holding the body to make it truly universal.

Mash up - Aston Martin DBR1
Hope this is the right place for this posting. Its not a scratch build but a bit of a mash-up. Whilst I do have some nice cars out of the box I like to fiddle and try and improve with some of less able cars. Having said that the least able is the driver...
I got hold of a Scalextric Aston Martin DBR1 off eBay with every expectation of working on it - as you can see its a very rare (!) two tone version with barely recognisable wheels that have morphed into lumps of silver plastic.
In the plan:-
a) Make it less tall
b ) Lower the ground clearance
c) Fit some better wheels/tyres, glues and trued, solid front axle and positively fixed motor
d) Rework the dreadful side vents and front grill
e) Give it some braking vents, side exhaust and cooling holes
f) Better rear lights
g) Replace the disc of a steering wheel with a proper one
h) Smooth out the moulding lines
I) Paint job
Reasonably pleased with the results.
Had to:-
a) Cut the front and rear valences off and glue to body
b ) Cut out under the driver completely once the body had 2mm cut out of the height and the chassis was cut from the front and rear valence and rained into the body to clear the motor
c) Make up a small exhaust system
d) Make rear lights from styrene tube and Araldite
e) Jig up and make a new front grill from mesh and styrene strip
f) Make up a side grill template and fill and re-cut and fabricate new ones of better shape
g) Reshape the rear wheel arches by filling and cutting and reshape the front to provide wheel clearance
h) Dremel out new air vents over wheels
Painting was a d-I-s-a-s-t-e-r. The chosen colour from Halfords turned out to be very un Aston like and I had to try and recover the situation with some light over spray and clear (a kind of paint mixing on the car itself!!!). I anticipate getting another DBR1 and will try and get a better match next time.
Still needs some decals to finish, other minor fiddling and some track time.

Thinking of trying some double flanged wheels. Any negatives?
Thinking of trying some double flanged, flanges on the outside like 1:1, wheels. Has anyone used these before and will I encounter any problems using "conventional" tires normally used on std. wheels which have a void in the centre where the ridge goes.
Reason I want to squeeze/pinch the tires for a more bulbous look.

Maserati 4CL
Just to prove that some projects take me less than 2 years to complete here is my rendering of Dave Jones's fibre-glass Maserati shell. A slimline motor doesn't seem too powerful with the weight of a PP brass chassis and with those skinny tyres giving almost no grip. As usual all my projects seem to work in parallel so there should be some more postings of various automotive eccentricities in the near future.

Besides the DNQ resin kit you see the usual PP and Scalextric stuff. Reissorg is at the moment working on the decals.
Harald qualified 23rd on the grid, but was out on lap 54 due to a spin.
Cheers, Holger

Escort MK1 "Grasstrack" - The "Wreckscort!"
Here is the progress on a new car I am working on. I am developing a new chassis for Magracing which will have an onboard microcontroller, battery and steering. There are currently no saloon cars available on the system. I also intend for the chassis to have a swap in blade so it will run on slotted tracks.

The body, chassis and interior will be printed on a Formlabs resin 3D printer and when finished the models will be open source so anyone can print their own.
By the way if anyone wants to donate a 3D cad model to help us out, please send me a PM. I would like them in iges or .stp format if possible and will release the design to the community.

One off Specials
Whilst stumbling around the tinternet I found myself spending a bit too much time admiring some hill-climb specials. Fantastic creativity from the earliest modified road cars with leaf spring suspension and solid front axles, through reworked formula cars, to modern, mind blowingly fast saloon cars built for just one purpose. Typically these are just one offs.
I would be interested to see what scratch built cars people have made that might fit into the above category, most likely using their own interpretation. Could include modsports cars here as well as they are pretty much one offs and often pretty wild.
Cheers Alan

Paper body BMW Series 8
Feeling a little bored waiting for some more bits to arrive from eBay...
I downloaded a paper BMW Series 8 to put onto a chassis that I have but couldn't find a suitable body for.
It's the spare chassis that comes with a Slot.It Mazda but it has long wheelbase. I also had a pod from a Racer Sideways Capri, some alloy rear wheels from who knows where, Urethane tyres from a club member, front wheels and tyres from a Scalextric XJ220 - real ol' mash-up.
The paper plans needed a bit of scaling to the right wheelbase and some cutting of the front and rear valences after fitting to clear the track. Pretty nasty workmanship on this one but hey ho, it's just an experiment.
Should last about week!

Alfa Romeo P2 GP
A rendition of the Alfa P2 as raced in the 1920s; the body was from Geodies with quite a lot of brass added - exhaust, radiator frame and various filler caps punched out from plastic card with brass wire on top. The wheels are the front wheels of the Scalextric Ferrari 375.
